Pierre and Rina's wedding in pictures

The right face for the suit! Rina
wore the "shiro muku", or traditionally known as "tsuno kakushi", which
can be translated as "horn hide", for a woman, upon entering
married life, was expected to "hide her horns of jealousy..." You see why the name has been changed!
A new - quite international - extended family.
And both families in full...

A Shinto ceremony was celebrated at the Goryo shrine in the old neighborhood of Nara city

The usually undecorated and furniture-free ceremony room was filled with all the necessary.
Everyone was served her or his share of sake, although Pierre and Rina had to have the traditional 3 times 3 sips each.

"A good thing there was sake at some point, because it helped me relax and let things go their way!"
The priests performed their ceremony, asked Pierre and Rina to stand, make an offrand to the kami, and pronounced their vows.

Then everybody met at a local restaurant for a traditional japanese dinner.

The room is usually limited at 30 people, and 40 were present! Lack of space doesn't surprise anyone in Japan.
Here Pierre translates for his father who did a brief speech to the crowd who didn't know a word of French!
Somehow, a ring had to find its way into this very no-ring tradition (had to, ask Rina!).
An interesting obi tie (the waist sash that keeps the kimono together). Don't try this at home, this was done by professionals!
