| Why
the need... ?
All
swords entering or leaving Japan must succeed through a series of
procedures always puzzling and time consuming.
Some of the required procedures include:
Registration of the weapon with the government upon
arrival
and de-registration upon
departure
· Authentification
- Only traditionally-made
swords can enter
- Protected artworks cannot leave
(Nat.Treasures, etc)
· Control by the customs
· Interactions with various Ministries
· Picture taking; Oshigata tracing; forms
filling; fees
Registration with responsible organisms for Shinsa (Appraisal),
with craftsmen for required work, depending on the intended purpose.
